September 2026 – Candice’s Shenanigans

September flew by with running, non-profits, sports, and a special run-in.
If you’re looking for some new backcountry adventures, I ran the old Breck Crest route from Breck to Frisco, I ran to Willow Lakes from the Willowbrook trailhead, and I ran the Crested Butte 35k through some beautiful color change. You’ll see some familiar faces in my run photos! I’m training for an exciting adventure in the coming months, so be on the lookout for that!
We also got to watch Summit FC beat the #1 ranked team in the NWSL, and Weez got an autograph from my favorite player, Janine Sonis. Kolton and Narendra went to San Diego to round out Narendra’s stadium tours, and Kolton got an autograph too. They also saw turtles that were 130 years old at the San Diego Zoo and got to play in the ocean.
I enjoyed a beautiful evening at the Wine at the Mine event with Jill and Jon Dorr supporting the Summit Foundation. Weez and I volunteered at FIRC to help move the food, and it was amazing to see the amount of food their staff and volunteers get out to the community every day. Weez and I enjoyed some silent disco at the Frisco Historic Park – highly recommend. We’re also now flag-football parents, which is a new adventure.
I also hosted our New Seasons Keystone listing at the Summit County Parade of Homes – which is always a fun event if you haven’t been. We saw a lot of people come through town for that, and this year there were 2 very special people that came through though. Carol and Rich stopped in, and were looking around like the other 150 people. We exchanged a few words, then I had a sneaking intuition that I may have met her before. Four years ago, a couple literally saved my life when I was stung by a bee and went into anaphylaxis in the middle of a Keystone trail. This nice couple happened to be driving by (which was so fortunate) and pulled over when I flagged them down and offered to give me a ride to my car (with my dog in the back). When I passed out in their car, they knew exactly what to do and got me to an ambulance. Well, Carol and Rich happened to be checking out New Seasons Keystone the day I was there, and I couldn’t have been more excited to be able to give them a hug in person after they saved my life!
